Nguyen Gia Liem, deputy director of the Department of Overseas Labour told a workshop on Vietnam’s labour export held in Quang Ninh province on October 4 that Japan in particular was the market of greatest potential for Vietnamese workers. “Japan doesn’t only pay well but also is a market of cutting-edge science and technology with highly skilled labour,” Nghiem said. Japan and Taiwan, however, were not the only markets receiving Vietnamese workers. Most of Le Duan Street and the area surrounding the Notre Dame Cathedral had thousands of motorbikes with fans cheering and waving Vietnamese flags. Industry 4.0 technologies are revolutionising most of the countries economic sectors The latest report on Vietnam Digital Marketing by Andrews University showed that 64 million Vietnamese people use the internet, an increase of 28 per cent compared to 2017. There are 143.3 million mobile subscriptions and, on average, each person owns 1.4 mobiles. In 2019, mobile payment growth increased by 232 per cent in value and 98 per cent in volume over the same period last year. In particular, the proportion of consumers paying with mobile in Vietnam has risen to 61 per cent from 27 per cent in 2018. Meanwhile, the latest report on the digital economy in Southeast Asia published by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company showed that Vietnam’s digital economy would reach $12 billion in 2019, leading the area along with Indonesia. Promoting cultural heritage values while developing tourism Thai Nguyen province is home to 17 intangible culture heritages. Local authorities and ethnic minority groups are exerting efforts to promote heritage values in combination with tourism development. The San Chay people of Phú Lương district traditionally celebrate Spring with the Tắc Xình dance. In 2018, the Tac Xinh dance was recognized as national Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourisms. To uphold the cultural values of the heritage, Thai Nguyen’s provincial culture and tourism sector have taken measures to introduce the dance to visitors through festivals, turning it into an attractive tourism product.
