It also aims to cut the number of Vietnamese IP addresses in 10 popular botnets – a collection of internet-connected devices infected by malware that allow hackers to control them – in half. Export value skyrockets over Lunar New Year Vietnam's export turnover during this Lunar New Year saw breakthrough growth, occupying nearly half of the total export-import turnover. The latest data published by the General Department of Vietnam Customs showed that export volume over the seven days (February 10-16) of the Lunar New Year holiday reached $730 million, rising 79 per cent on-year and accounting for about 44 per cent of the $1.67 billion export-import turnover. The main export articles include mobile devices and components valued at $332 million; computer and electronic products worth $251 million. The two categories accounted for 80 per cent of the total export value. This Lunar New Year saw exports going to 80 markets, seven more than last year. The provincial fisheries industry has witnessed strong development over recent years, contributing significantly to increasing incomes for fishermen. But legal violations in fishing activities remain common. According to Tran Xi Khuol, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Fisheries, fishing has been considered a key economic sector of Bac Lieu for many years. But problems linger, such as illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, especially fishing without permits, a lack of safety equipment on fishing vessels, and fishing reports not being submitted in line with regulations. COVID-19: Vietnam records 12 more community cases on Feb. 28
Most of the newly-detected patients tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus after coming into close contact with COVID-19 patients. Six of the cases were recorded in Hai Duong’s Kim Thanh district, a new coronavirus hotspot in the country. The virus has spread to all 12 cities and districts in Hai Duong province, with 665 cases confirmed, since it recurred a month ago. Elsewhere, the epidemic has been brought under control in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi capital, Hai Phong city as well as 12 other localities, with no new cases detected during the past few days. Bac Lieu province in the Mekong Delta reported an infection in the community on February 28 and local authorities are awaiting confirmation from the Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute.
