Hanoi's tree planting campaign has significantly mitigated urban heat and contributed to improving the living environment of local residents over the past few years. Hanoi plans to grow around 554,000 trees in 2021, according to a report of the municipal Department of Construction. The report stated that 23,850 trees have been planted in the city in the first quarter of this year. The new trees will be planted at historical and cultural relics, new urban buildings, public works, schools, hospitals, parks and along roads. The municipal People's Committee assigned the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to find reliable suppliers of seedlings and technical materials to ensure the correct variety, quality and planting and tending techniques.
