Hanoi has set a target to use 15.7 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine for around 95% of local people aged over 18. The information was given by Tran Thi Nhi Ha, director of the Hanoi Department of Health. According to Ha, the department is seeking municipal authorities’ permission for buying 15.782 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine. The Hanoitimes - The purchase confirms that Russia is the biggest arms supplier of Vietnam. Vietnam signed a US$350 million deal in 2019 to buy a dozen of combat training aircraft from Russia, the Vedomosti business daily reported on January 28. The purchase deal covers at least 12 Yak-130 combat training jets, Vedomosti cited two unnamed Russian defense industry executives as saying, giving no details about the delivery time. Red Spring Festival expects to collect over 4,000 blood units Young people donate their blood In his opening remarks, Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) Bach Quoc Khanh, who is head of the festival’s organizing board, said that the festival has been held annually since 2008 to address blood shortages after the lunar New Year holiday, and gradually changed public awareness of blood donation. 11 domestic coronavirus cases recorded in Vietnam’s Hai Duong Province
Vietnam’s Ministry of Health confirmed 11 domestically-transmitted COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, with Hai Duong Province being still the country’s largest epicenter. Seven of the new patients had their samples taken on Sunday, the other four on Monday, the ministry elaborated. All 11 cases had been in contact with infected patients and had thus been quarantined on Sunday. They were logged in Hai Duong, located in northern Vietnam, the health ministry noted. The ministry announced six recoveries on Tuesday, taking the total number of recovered patients to 1,898. Vietnam had spent nearly two months detecting zero community cases before it found the first one on January 27 and confirmed it one day later, according to the health ministry’s data. Social distancing lifted from Vietnam’s COVID-19 epicenter
Strict social distancing measures will be lifted from the northern province of Hai Duong, Vietnam’s COVID-19 epicenter at present, from Wednesday, as the locality will focus on pandemic control while boosting socio-economic development. Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Pham Xuan Thang said at a meeting on Monday that extending the social distancing period would be unnecessary.
