Hanoi has set a target to use 15.7 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine for around 95% of local people aged over 18. The information was given by Tran Thi Nhi Ha, director of the Hanoi Department of Health. According to Ha, the department is seeking municipal authorities’ permission for buying 15.782 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine. Vietnam’s Ministry of Health confirmed 11 domestically-transmitted COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, with Hai Duong Province being still the country’s largest epicenter. Seven of the new patients had their samples taken on Sunday, the other four on Monday, the ministry elaborated. All 11 cases had been in contact with infected patients and had thus been quarantined on Sunday. They were logged in Hai Duong, located in northern Vietnam, the health ministry noted. The ministry announced six recoveries on Tuesday, taking the total number of recovered patients to 1,898. Vietnam had spent nearly two months detecting zero community cases before it found the first one on January 27 and confirmed it one day later, according to the health ministry’s data. Strict social distancing measures will be lifted from the northern province of Hai Duong, Vietnam’s COVID-19 epicenter at present, from Wednesday, as the locality will focus on pandemic control while boosting socio-economic development.
