Several expats living in Vietnam have shared their stories about Christmas celebrations with Tuoi Tre News as the holiday nears. Kim Cheng, from San Diego, California, USA My husband and I have been living in Vietnam for over six years, and I've celebrated four memorable Christmases and New Year's holidays in Ho Chi Minh City. I remember my first Christmas in Vietnam. It was December 24, 2008 and Vietnam had just won the AFF Championship. Most of Le Duan Street and the area surrounding the Notre Dame Cathedral had thousands of motorbikes with fans cheering and waving Vietnamese flags. Then, just before midnight, there was a wave of silence. It was really cool to see a mass of people become so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. The weather in the city during December is similar to the weather in my hometown most of the year. This year, a small group of friends and I will have Christmas Eve dinner at Saffron restaurant. We're also doing a fun Secret Santa gift exchange. We have a … [Read more...] about That’s how they celebrate Christmas in Vietnam, how about you?

Korean Air has been donating bicycles to students in Vietnam's rural areas since 2018 as part of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. Through these donations, Korean Air supports children to overcome their challenging circumstances in pursuit of their dreams. Employees from Korean Air's Danang office visited Duy Thu elementary school, one of the four schools that received the supplies. On the same day (September 7), Korean Air donated 40 bicycles, 60 backpacks, and 40 footballs to underprivileged schools recommended by the Quang Nam Education Office. These schools are located in mountainous areas, so students do not have access to public transportation, meaning they have to walk five to seven kilometres every morning to school. The airline also donated footballs to encourage pupils to partake in physical activity.
