Vietnam activates national population database, citizen ID card management systems
Vietnam’s national population database and citizen ID card issuance and management systems were launched on Thursday with the attendance of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. The two systems will serve as comprehensive data hubs that store information with legal value of Vietnamese citizens, said the Ministry of Public Security, the lead agency in the development of the systems. The new data infrastructures are expected to bring about an overhaul on citizen management protocol, introducing digital filing and personal ID number to supersede household registration books, as well as streamlining administration processes and enhancing experiences of citizens as well as businesses towards public services. Hanoi reports case of COVID-19 relapse A patient has tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 again after being given the all-clear, the Hanoi Centre of Disease Control (CDC Hanoi) said on February 25. The 48-year-old patient, who resides in Dich Vong ward in Cau Giay district, has been taken to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases for further quarantine and treatment. The case does not pose any risk of community transmission, Deputy Director of CDC Hanoi Khong Minh Tuan said. Hanoi had reported 36 COVID-19 cases between January 27 and 12pm on February 25, according to the municipal Department of Health. Vietnam, Jordan look to step up trade and investment
The meeting between Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tao Thi Thanh Huong and Jordanian Ambassador to Singapore and Vietnam Mahmoud Hmoud was held at the Vietnamese Embassy on February 23 to discuss ways to boost bilateral relations. Huong briefed her guest on the results of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which concluded earlier this month, and the country’s success in maintaining positive economic growth and responding to COVID-19 last year.
