Under its development plan for 2021 recently submitted to the municipal People’s Committee, the sector said import revenue is estimated at 56.47 billion USD for the whole year, up 11 percent against the previous year. Besides, it eyed to reel in more than 835.68 trillion VND (36.29 billion USD) from retail sales and services revenues in the year, up 10 percent year-on-year. First batch of Sinovac vaccine arrives in Singapore, but it is not approved yet

Phot: Bloomberg Singapore (VNA) - Singapore received its first shipment of China's Sinovac vaccine but has yet to authorise it for use, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) on February 24. It added that the vaccine maker has started submitting initial data to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA). "HSA is currently awaiting Sinovac's submission of all the necessary information in order to carry out a thorough scientific assessment of the manufacturing process, safety and efficacy of the vaccine under the Pandemic Special Access Route," the MOH was quoted by The Straits Times as saying. Vietnam attracts US$23.48 billion in FDI in ten months
The FDI capital includes newly registered capital, supplemented capital, share purchasing and the capital contributions of foreign investors during the ten-month period. In the January-October period, a total of US$15.8 billion worth of FDI was disbursed, equivalent to 97.5% of the corresponding period in 2019. About 2,100 new FDI projects were licensed during the period with a total registered capital of US$11.66 billion, down 32.1% and 9.1% in terms of the number of projects and volume of capital during the same period last year. As many as 109 countries and territories invested in Vietnam with Singapore being the leading investor, having poured US$7.51 billion into Vietnam, accounting for 31.9% of total FDI capital in Vietnam. Vietnam’s capitalisation index climbs nine places in GII 2020 report
Accordingly, Vietnam continued to hold 42nd position out of 131 economies in the annual report (ranked 42 out of 129 economies in 2019). Thanks to the ranking, Vietnam is first amongst a group of 29 lower-middle income economies, third in Southeast Asia, behind Singapore and Malaysia, and ninth in Asia Pacific. According to the assessment, Vietnam was hailed in its market and business sophistication, of which its ranking in the index on market capitalisation of listed companies (% of GDP) was up nine places in 2019, climbing nine places in 2020 and exceeding the target set by the Government in Resolution 02/2019/NQ-CP dated January 1, 2019 on the continuation of the main tasks and solutions to improve the business environment and enhance national competitiveness in 2019 towards 2021.
