Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam aims to welcome 2 million Japanese visitors in 2020, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT). Japan will to be among the most important tourism markets for Vietnam this year. Over the years, VNAT and the Japan National Tourism Organisation have carried out promotions for various Vietnamese destinations. The countries’ localities have also strengthened tourism cooperation, particularly between Hanoi and Tokyo. In the past 10 years, the number of Japanese arrivals to Vietnam have recorded average growth of 8-10 percent. In 2019 alone, nearly 500,000 Vietnamese travelled to Japan, a year-on-year increase of 27.3 percent. Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam won two ASEAN Sustainable Tourism Standard Awards at the 2020 ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF 2020) which took place in Brunei from January 12 – 16. The16,000-sqm border information cluster in Sa Vi Cape in Tra Co, Mong Cai city in the northern province of Quang Ninh received an award for urban sustainable product, while the Thanh Dong Organic Farm situated in Hoi An, the central coastal province of Quang Nam brought home one for rural sustainable product. The awards are recognition of the best sustainable tourism activities in the region involving the local community, accommodation, food and beverage and public toilets run by public and private tourism stakeholders. It encourages stakeholders in the tourism value chain to be more environmentally-conscious and responsible in their business operations to achieve sustainability. Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has targeted to earn 9 billion USD from fishery exports in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 7 percent, according to the Directorate of Fisheries. Vietnam’s aquatic product export value reached 8.6 billion USD last year in 2019, down 2.3 percent from the previous year. However, Vietnam’s seafood export value reached 3.2 billion USD last year, an 8-percent increase from a year earlier, the highest rate ever, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers. Tuna contributed 728 million USD to total exports, a year-on-year increase of 12 percent, while exports of other saltwater fish reached 1.65 billion USD, representing 19.4 percent of the total and surging 15.8 percent year on year. The US, EU and ASEAN remained the largest buyers of Vietnamese tuna, importing 71 percent of the total last year compared to 67 percent in 2018. The US topped the markets with 46 percent.
