HCM City (VNS/VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City plans to complete inventory and check the status of State-owned houses and land in the city this year to ensure that housing and land are being used for legitimate purposes. The city will check housing and land quantity, area, shape, position, legal documents, management, purposes for use, as well as the current housing and land usage of offices, organisations, enterprises and individuals. The city will fine violators of regulations and withdraw land use licences of State-owned vacant houses and land or those that were taken illegally. The city's People’s Committee has told relevant agencies including the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to strengthen checks and supervision after issuing certificates of land-use rights. Hanoi (VNA) – As many as 4,849 out of the 8,902 communes nationwide, or 54.47 percent, have been recognised as new-style rural areas, said the central coordination office on new-style rural area building. The average number of criteria achieved per commune hit 15.66. However, 1,210 communes reached less than 10 criteria, accounting for 13.59 percent. As of January, 114 units at district-level were honoured with the recognition. The national target programme on building new-styled rural areas was initiated by the Government in 2010 with the aim of developing rural regions. It initially had 19 criteria, but that increased to 20 in 2015. The list of criteria includes the development of infrastructure, the improvement of production capacity, environmental protection, and the promotion of cultural values.
