Defender Doan Van Hau (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s U22 players will have no time to rest after their SEA Games victory as Korean coach Park Hang-seo on December 12 announced a list of 28 footballers to prepare for the final round of the AFC U23 Championship in January 2020. In the list, there are three goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 11 midfielders and four strikers. They include most of the SEA Games winners except for midfielders Do Hung Dung and Nguyen Trong Hoang who are over the age limit and defender Doan Van Hau who has returned to his Dutch club SC Heerenveen. Ministry to help police handle sexual abuse of children
Colonel Pham Manh Thuong, deputy director of the ministry's Criminal Police Department, said at a conference in Hanoi Tuesday that the police force has been instructed to prioritize action in cases of sexual abuse of children, given recent "complicated developments." Local police have been ordered to report all such cases to the ministry so it could provide guidance and send officers to assist with investigations. Thuong said the Ministry of Public Security's hotline 113 is active all the time. The ministry is implementing a project to enhance capabilities for officials and investigators, and coordinating with the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to build 10 interrogation/counselling facilities in as many provinces, he said. At talks with the Cuban minister on December 12, Long said the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice is ready to share with the Cuban counterpart experiences in building, improving and enforcing laws. The Cuban justice minister said Cuba has just adopted a new Constitution and will continue to revise its legal documents to make them consistent with the Constitution. Proposal to scrap ranks in university degrees receives mixed response
The Ministry of Education and Training has recommended that degree certificates should no longer show students' ranks. Universities now have five ranks: excellent, very good, good, average, and acceptable. Truong Nguyen Thanh, vice principal of Ho Chi Minh City's private Van Lang University, said not indicating the level of distinction is now a global trend. Most schools in the U.S. do not include them in the degree certificate but attach the school records along with it. A few years after graduation, not many students would worry about the rank they had got, only the value they bring to their current employer, he said. "Academic ranks can only reflect one aspect of the student: the ability to grasp knowledge. What businesses really need are the skills to solve problems and application of their knowledge in different contexts."
