August 17-23: Meeting marks 75th anniversary of August Revolution

Meeting marks 75th anniversary of August Revolution Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan attended a ceremony held at the NA House on August 19 to mark the 75th anniversaries of the Tan Trao National Congress (August 16), the August Revolution (August 19), and National Day (September 2). Tan Trao, known as the cradle of Vietnam’s revolution, was once the home of President Ho Chi Minh and Party agencies in the period before the success of the August Revolution in the resistance war against French colonialists. On September 2, 1945, at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, President Ho Chi Minh delivered the Declaration of Independence giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. As part of the meeting, the delegates watched a documentary that reconstructs the atmosphere of September 2, 1945 and underlines the significance of the Independence Day. High-quality workforce crucial for Mekong Delta A high-quality workforce is considered an important factor for the Mekong Delta to make breakthroughs in the future, according to the annual Mekong Delta Economic Report 2020. The report was jointly prepared by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Fulbright University Vietnam’s Fulbright School of Public Policy and Management. Despite being abundant, the workforce in the Mekong Delta is aging, and younger workers are tending to migrate to other regions, especially Ho Chi Minh City and the southern region, where job opportunities are plentiful, according to the report. The Mekong Delta now has the lowest immigration in the country and the highest emigration. It is also the only region to have recorded population growth of zero percent during the 2009-2019 period. Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park ranks Top 15 among world’s best national park 2021

The Hanoitimes - Being ranked at the 15th position, Phong Nha- Ke Bang National Park is the only national park in Southeast Asia to appear on the list compiled by TripAdvisor. The UNESCO-recognized global heritage site of Phong Nha- Ke Bang National Park has recently been voted as one among 25 best national parks of the world in 2021 by TripAdvisor by travelers. "The karst formation of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park has evolved since the Paleozoic (some 400 million years ago) and so is the oldest major karst area in Asia,” the renown website for traveling advises wrote. Int’l arrivals to Vietnam in June drop to lowest in years on border closure

The Hanoitimes - The country saw the modest number of tourists in June compared to the same period in the past many years. Foreign arrivals in Vietnam in June dropped the the lowest in many years as the Southeast Asian country shut its borders to bar intrusion of the coronavirus although tourism accounts for 9% of its GDP. The international influx to Vietnam decreased by 61.3% in June compared to May and 99.3% year-on-year to 8,800, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
