Illustrative image (Source: autoindustriya.com) Hanoi (VNA) – The municipal council of Baguio city of the Philippines has approved a regulation to prohibit pedestrians from using any distractive mobile device while walking in public places. The Anti-Distracted Walking Ordinance was passed on June 24 to ensure the safety of pedestrians, said Baguio City Councilor Francis Robert Ortega. The use of gadgets while walking in public spaces is a great danger since it leads to unwanted tragedies, Ortega said. The penalties for violating the ordinance will be a reprimand or verbal warning for a first offense, 1,000 pesos (roughly 19.55 USD) fine for a second offense, 2,000 pesos (roughly 39 USD) fine plus up to 10 days of community service for a third offense, and 2,500 pesos (roughly 48.88 USD) plus 11 to 30 days of community service for a fourth offense. Young South Koreans make a beeline for Vietnam as jobs dry up at home
"In South Korea, I can only look for jobs without much prestige, like a photocopy guy. So I decided to come to Vietnam and gain some work experience," Choi Chang-min, a 31-year-old South Korean man, told VnExpress. Choi has two bachelor’s degrees in international trade and finance and currently works as an executive assistant for a Korean company producing fashion garments for export in the northern province of Hung Yen, 54 km south of Hanoi. His main task is to make production plans and manage inventory. Choi is among 400 South Koreans who’ve moved to Vietnam to work under a program called K-Move, launched by the South Korean government to connect young Koreans to "quality jobs" in 70 countries. K-Move found overseas jobs for 5,783 graduates last year, more than triple the number in 2013, when it was first launched, Reuters reported. The organisers said in a meeting on Monday that matches will be held in the stadiums Rizal Memorial in Manila, Umak Football in Makati, and Binan Lagun in Laguna. Except for the Philippines and Cambodia, all other teams are currently practicing and competing on grass. They will have four months to switch to an artificial surface as the football kicks off on November 25 and ends on December 10.
