Vietnam will likely face a power shortage during 2020-2030 if electricity generation is not increased and there is not enough fuel (coal and gas) for generation. It is forecast that the demand for electricity will continue to grow at a high level until 2030. The power sector will need to ensure 265-278 billion kWh of output by 2020 and around 572-632 billion kWh by 2030. The growth rate in the 2016-2020 period will be 10.3-11.3 per cent per year and about 8-8.5 per cent between 2021 and 2030. Insufficient power supply could lead to a heavier reliance on imported fuel, especially in power generation, while the higher demand would also place greater pressure on power infrastructure, which might not be improved quickly enough due to lack of funding. VNS Photo Văn Châu HCM CITY – Farmers in the Cửu Long (Mekong) Delta are growing new flower and plant varieties such as five-fruit trees and rat-shaped plants for the upcoming Tết (Lunar New Year) festival, which falls on January 25 (Year of the Rat). In Đồng Tháp Province’s Sa Đéc City, one of the delta’s largest flower growing areas, hundreds of new flower varieties, including various types of new foreign roses and daisies, have been planted for Tết. The new varieties of roses, lilies and zinnias are in high demand. Tetra Pak, in collaboration with its partners, kicks off School Recycling program to involve 800 primary schools and kindergartens in 16 districts of Hanoi The Company also aims to expand this initiative to Da Nang and Binh Duong in 2020. School Recycling is the first-ever, large-scale program to segregate, collect and recycle used cartons in Hanoi under partnership with Hanoi’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment and Hanoi’s Department of Education and Training as well as Tetra Pak’s partners including Dong Tien Paper Factory, Lagom, NHC and Vinamilk.
