Tran Ngoc Lan, a fruit trader at Thi Nghe Market, said fruit prices have been falling relentlessly, and are now much cheaper than a few weeks ago. Tran Duc Thinh, head of the fruit section at the Binh Dien Wholesale Market, told Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper large volumes of fruits have come to the market in recent days and so prices have fallen. The municipal People’s Committee has proposed an adjusted total investment of 47.3 trillion VND (2.08 billion USD) and nearly 48 trillion VND (2.11 billion USD) for metro line No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Metro line No 1 (Ben Thanh in District 1 to Suoi Tien in District 9) was approved by the city in April 2007 with an investment of 17.4 trillion VND (766.4 million USD). Vietnam PM pushes work on long-delayed metro lines in Saigon
Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has instructed ministries to speed up work on Ho Chi Minh City's long-delayed metro system to utilize funding effectively and ease the megacity's congestion. The city's first two metro lines, connecting the downtown's Ben Thanh with Suoi Tien theme park in District 9 and Tham Luong station in District 12, are both scheduled for completion in 2020. The first line is only half finished after six years, and work on the second line mostly remains on paper.
