PUNTA ARENAS — Chile confirmed on Thursday that a military plane with 38 people aboard crashed in the sea, with no hope of finding survivors. "The condition of the plane wreckage that was found makes it practically impossible that there are survivors from this air accident," Air Force chief Arturo Merino told a news conference in the southern port of Punta Arenas. Merino, flanked by Defense Minister Alberto Espina and other officials, confirmed reports that remains recovered from the sea were "most likely to be body parts of those traveling on the C-130". Parts of the aircraft's landing gear, fuel system, wing and a wheel were among the recovered debris, along with two bags, a backpack and a shoe. Search teams have been combing waters off the southern tip of South America for any sign of the C-130 Hercules transport plane, which disappeared late on Monday. A project on rebuilding the Ton Duc Thang Museum of HCM City has been approved by local authorities, according to the museum’s director Pham Thanh Nam. Oxygen tank explosion kills two, injuries three at Hai Duong firm
An oxygen tank exploded at Lilama 69-3 Company in the northern province of Hai Duong, leaving two dead and three others injured. Dao Viet Khuay, deputy director of the company located in Tu Ky District, the incident happened at around 3 pm, killing Nguyen Minh Duc, 38, and injuring four others Pham Manh Cuong, 38, Pham Van Chuc, 44, Nguyen Van Ben, 29 and Pham Van Nhat, 37. Lilama 69-3 Company where the incident happened At 9 pm on the same day, Pham Van Nhat also died due to serious trauma. The injured people are staying at Hai Duong General Hospital for the treatment. Orphans in Hanoi face gloomy future
Two children in Hanoi who are facing a gloomy future after their parents’ death are in dire need of support. Nguyen Thuy Linh, 19, and her brother Nguyen Trung Hieu, 12, are living at a small house at Quynh Mai Ward, Hai Ba Trung District. Their mother died some years ago because of leukemia. Meanwhile, their father who had mental problems, diabetes and tuberculosis also died recently. The children besides their father's photo Nguyen Thi Hoa, the family’s neigbour, said that Linh’s mother still decided to get married to his father although she knew that he had been suffering from mental diseases since he was small. Luckily, both Linh and his brother were born in good health, which was a motivation for the couple. Gradually, the father’s disease improved. However, in 2015, Linh’s mother was diagnosed with leukemia which killed her just a short time after that. Police arrested a man on Sunday for slashing four members of his brother’s family to death and severely injuring another with a chopper because of a land dispute. The suspect, 53-year-old Nguyen Van Dong, and his brother 50-year-old Nguyen Van Hai had a dispute over a piece of land their parents had left them on Hong Ha Commune, Dan Phuong District, Hanoi, Nguyen Thac Hung, deputy chairman of Dan Phuong, said on Sunday afternoon. Dong carried a chopper knife to Hai’s place at 7:30 am on Sunday after the younger brother turned the first sod on his new house built on the piece of land. The elder brother slashed Hai and the latter’s daughter, 28-year-old Nguyen Thi Bac, to death on the spot out of utmost rage.
