Vietjet aircraft (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Budget carrier Vietjet Air has announced that it will resume its flights to Van Don International Airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh from March 3 after the airport is allowed to reopen on March 2. The Van Don airport was temporarily shut down from January 29 after an airport security staff was confirmed positive for the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 that causes the COVID-19 pandemic. Vietjet Air ’s Flight VJ230 from Ho Chi Minh City will be the first to land at this airport on March 3 morning since the shutdown. The carrier plans to conduct four round-trip flights on the route each week in March. From February 27 to March 31, 2021, passengers buying tickets and flying with Vietjet Air across Vietnam will receive the special gift of 20kg checked baggage in addition with 7kg hand luggage completely for free. Vietnam signs US$350 million deal to buy jets from Russia
The Hanoitimes - The purchase confirms that Russia is the biggest arms supplier of Vietnam. Vietnam signed a US$350 million deal in 2019 to buy a dozen of combat training aircraft from Russia, the Vedomosti business daily reported on January 28. The purchase deal covers at least 12 Yak-130 combat training jets, Vedomosti cited two unnamed Russian defense industry executives as saying, giving no details about the delivery time. Red Spring Festival expects to collect over 4,000 blood units Young people donate their blood In his opening remarks, Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) Bach Quoc Khanh, who is head of the festival’s organizing board, said that the festival has been held annually since 2008 to address blood shortages after the lunar New Year holiday, and gradually changed public awareness of blood donation. After 13 editions, the festival has collected over 85,000 blood units and become the annual biggest blood donation event. Khanh took the occasion to express his gratitude for donators nationwide. Mount Merapi volcano erupts again, spewing a column of ash by up to 6 km high (Source: AFP/VNA) Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia’s Mount Merapi volcano erupted again on June 21, spewing a column of ash by up to 6 km high , forcing local authorities to issue the highest level of flight alert . The National Volcanology Agency said that the wind was blowing to the west of the crater and the residents living near the volcano which is situated in Indonesia ’s main Java Island are barred from entering the area within a radius of 3 km from the crater. A volcano observatory notice for aviation with red code was issued by the agency after the eruption as it endangers planes which are prohibited from passing through the air space around the volcano.
