SINGAPORE -- Traveloka, Southeast Asia’s largest online travel startup, plans to launch financial services in Thailand and Vietnam as it eyes a U.S. listing through a blank-cheque company, its president said. The 9-year-old Indonesian company, which counts Expedia and China’s JD.com among its backers, is seeing a strong rebound in its business after the COVID-19 pandemic pummelled demand. The company’s president, Caesar Indra, told Reuters in an interview that Traveloka’s Vietnam business had surpassed pre-COVID-19 levels, is nearly back to normal levels in Thailand, and is at half of pre-COVID level in Indonesia. “The worst has happened and now we’re well prepared for 2021. The guests brought a little joy for 60 third-grade pupil and their parents, teachers, and staff who are also in the school for three weeks with a homemade treat – the cheesy buns which were prepared by the hotel chefs. Vietnam ranked second out of 50 economies in the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) Investment Index, which reflects the expected level of investment, activity and attractiveness of the global M&A market amid macroeconomic and financial shocks, according to market research firm Euromonitor. The country is set to score 102 and 94.6 out of the maximum of 250 in 2020 and 2021, staying behind only the US with its respective scores of 108.9 and 112.5.
