Representatives from travel agencies supported the proposal, agreeing that in the immediate future the frequency should be increased to two flights a week instead of the current two flights a month, which they said will help fully exploit the tourism potential of Hue, a world cultural heritage site. Con Dao recruits more tourism personnel as demand rises

(Photo: ivivu.com) HCM City (VNS/VNA) - Resorts and hotels on Con Dao Island off the southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau are hiring hundreds of employees for various positions earlier than usual this year because of the increasing number of tourists. “Tourism establishments on the island usually begin hiring personnel beginning in March, but the move began early this year,” the owner of the Duong Thuy Seafood shop said. The Poulo Condor Resort, for example, is looking for 33 new employees for 14 types of jobs, while the Sai Gon Con Dao Resort and the Six Senses Con Dao Resort are recruiting seven new staff each. Leaders of the protected area have expressed reluctance to allow in more boats, but officials from neighbouring Da Nang said they will go ahead with a plan to add a new route to the islands. (Photo: The Straits Times) Bangkok (VNA) – Thailand’s economy posted the strongest growth in five years in 2017 and is expected to maintain the outlook this year, driven robust exports and tourism. Thailand’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew an inflation-adjusted 3.9 percent in 2017, up from 3.3 percent from the previous year, marking its fastest expansion since 2012, according to the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB). The economy looks set to grow faster this year with GDP forecast to expand by 3.6-4.6 percent. A steady recovery in exports and large government infrastructure projects, including the expansions of ports and roads as part of a 45 billion project for a new special economic zone on the east coast of the country, are expected to support growth in 2018.
