Viet Nam News HCM CITY — An event to introduce classical and contemporary Russian literature through Vietnamese was held at the HCM City Book Pedestrian Street on Saturday. The event, organised by the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Hà Nội and the Phụ Nữ (Women) Publishing House, was also aimed at popularising Russian culture. There were dozens of classical works by great Russian littérateurs like Lev Tolstoy, Sergey yesenin and Valentin Rasputin as well as contemporary novels by writers like Alexei Varlamov and Maria Metlitskaya. Alexey Popov, the Russian consul general in the city, said Vietnamese are familiar with classic Russian literature, especially those who know Russian, but contemporary works are also popular. The program was launched to celebrate the Russian cultural events such as the 190th birth anniversary of L.N. Tolstoy, the 200th birth anniversary of I.S. Turgenev, and the 215th birth anniversary of F.I. Tyutchev. Scene of the program. Russian culture reflected through art, films and dances
Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — Beautiful scenes of Russia’s four seasons went on display at an exhibition yesterday in Hà Nội. Entitled Russian Landscape, the exhibition showcased more than 50 oil and acrylic paintings by famous painter Mikhail Vyacheslavovich Stoyachko. The exhibition will close tomorrow at the Việt Nam National Fine Arts Museum in Hà Nội and will be held from October 12-14 at the HCM City Fine Arts Museum. Stoyachko was born in 1968. He is founder of and leader of the Kalyazin Art School. He has exhibited his paintings all over the world. Russian market in Ho Chi Minh City
There is a Russian market in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. The market sells the iconic wooden roly poly dolls, souvenirs, and warm clothes from Russia, attracting crowds of foreign and domestic customers. The Russian market on District 1’s Vo Van Kiet street was built in 2000. It covers an area of 2,000 square meters. The three-storey market has 200 booths selling clothes, footwear, bags, and household appliances. With nearly 200 kiosks, the market welcomes thousands of shoppers each day. Customers that visit the market are from all over the world, not just Vietnam. After nearly two decades, the market has become a venue for everyone who loves Russian culture and products. Xoan and Bai Choi singing lead the top 10 outstanding events of 2017 announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.Xoan and Bai Choi singing were recognised by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. The decision was made at a meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Republic of Korea, on December 8, 2017.Xoan singing in Phu Tho Province is also the first intangible cultural heritage that was cleared of the status as an element of heritage in need of urgent safeguarding as it was scarcely practised by the locals.
