Upon addressing the ceremony, Ha Thi Nga, president of the Vietnam Women's Union, emphasised that this year's award ceremony was held with the aim of celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Kovalevskaya Award. In addition, the occasion serves to affirm the importance of female scientists in conducting research activities to make great contributions to the country. Nga went on to stress that the Vietnam Women's Union has been fully aware of its role and responsibility in research activities that aim to improve the overall quality of the female workforce, especially in terms of high-quality female human resources. The Vietnam Women’s Union organized a ceremony to give the Kovalevskaia award 2020 with the participation of Associate professor Nguyen Thi Doan, former Vice President, chairwoman of the Kovalevskaia Award Committee. For individual category, Associate Professor Truong Thanh Huong, lecturer of Cardiovascular Faculty of the Hanoi-based Medical University won the award. Lecturer, associate professor Truong Thanh Huong has made great achievement in researches with the outstanding one being her research “Building an inherited gene mutation causing high levels of blood cholesterol”. Moreover, she has proposed management models of illness in Vietnam. The intensity of COVID-19 has initially “cooled down” in many nations around the world after the vaccination campaign has been deployed on a large scale. However, in some EU member states the situation remains serious and the EU is struggling to overcome the third wave of the pandemic. Contrary to the trend of easing social distancing, Hungary, France and the Czech Republic are the European countries tending to tighten prevention and control measures as the number of infections has increased recently.
