Foreign ship arrivals down 6 percent in first two months Vietnam’s sea ports have berthed some 4,900 foreign vessels over the last two months, a decline of 6 percent year-on-year, according to the Vietnam Marine Administration. The fall was due largely to the impact of COVID-19, which is resulting in major fluctuations in the transport sector, a representative of the administration said. Despite the lower number of foreign ships, the volume of import and export goods through ports grew. In January and February, 35.3 million tonnes of imports and 26 million tonnes of exports were handled at ports nationwide. The former represented an annual increase of 14 percent while the latter was as same as that last year. In particular, nearly 1.3 million TEUs for exports and 1.2 million for imports were handled during the period, up 32 and 16 percent, respectively, year-on-year; the highest growth since the pandemic began. Bluezone COVID-19 tracking app exceeds 30 million downloads

As of 11:30 am, March 2, the Bluezone app recorded over 30 million downloads, according to statistics released by the Department of Computerization under the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC). The number of people downloading and using Bluezone, smartphone application for tracing those at risk of COVID-19 infection, has increased dramatically in the last three weeks, since the third COVID-19 outbreak in Vietnam on January 28. Da Nang, Hai Duong, Hanoi, Quang Ninh, and Ho Chi Minh City are the top five provinces and cities in the country in terms of Bluezone users, the Department of Computerization said. It added that more than 30 million Bluezone users can make medical declarations online right on the application. Besides, Bluezone also added features such as sending feedback, through which people can report to authorities about cases at high risk of COVID-19 infection, calendar and among others. City to meet yearly budget revenue targets set by Gov’t

Reporters at the HCM City Press Centre on Tuesday cover an online Government meeting. — VNS Photo Bồ Xuân Hiệp HCM CITY — HCM City is likely to meet the year’s target for budget revenue of VNĐ365 trillion (US$15.86 billion) assigned by the central government, a city official said at an online Government meeting on Tuesday. Võ Văn Hoan, vice chairman of the city People’s Committee, said in the first two months, on average the city collected VNĐ2.9 trillion each day, which was higher than the average daily revenue. In January, the city collected VNĐ40 trillion, up 2.9 per cent year-on-year, he added. To date it has collected VNĐ74,500 billion, accounting for more than 20 per cent of the year’s target, up 10.5 per cent year-on-year. The Tax Department aims to collect at least 25 per cent of the yearly budget revenue target in the first quarter. Art exhibition inspired from poems by late poet Đặng Đình Hưng

A painting by Lê Thiết Cương that will be on display at the exhibition 'Một Bến Lạ' (An Unknown River) from March 12. HÀ NỘI - Painter Lê Thiết Cương will open his newest exhibition on March 12 at L’Espace, 24 Tràng Tiền Street. Entitled Một Bến Lạ (An Unknown River) after the poetry collection by late poet Đặng Đình Hưng, the exhibition will present Cương’s work made from 2007 to the present inspired by the poems. More than 30 artworks created on different materials such as pastel on poonah paper, oil on canvas and pottery will be on display. Earlier, in January, the launch of the poetry collection An Unknown River was hosted by the French Cultural Centre (L'Espace) to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the death of the poet (1924-1990) who was central to the country's poetry development. The book comprises six poems, as well as 20 small paintings and writings, about the poet and his poems by poets and researchers Hoàng Cầm, Hoàng Hưng and Đỗ Lai Thúy.
