Dak Lak (VNA) – The national project on developing high-quality coffee has helped businesses and farmers apply technologies in farming, cope with climate change, reduce production costs and improve economic efficiency in coffee production, heard a conference held in Buon Ma Thuot city, the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, on December 29. The project has also strengthened connectivity between businesses, cooperatives and farmers, while building brand names. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam is one of the biggest coffee producers in general, and the biggest producer of robusta in particular in the world. Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam gained 2.7 billion USD from shipping an estimated 1.7 million tonnes of coffee abroad in 2020, accounting for over 10 percent of the world’s coffee value and 18 percent of the market share, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD). Coffee is among ten key products of Vietnam, and is in top six products with export value topping 3 billion USD each year. The country has 664,000 hectares of coffee plantations with a yield of 1.5 million tonnes per year, 93 percent of which are grown with coffee robusta while the remainder being Arabica. Vietnamese coffee has been present in 80 countries and territories worldwide.
