The EU’s newly-accredited Ambassador to Vietnam Giorgio Aliberti (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam is one of the potential partners of the European Union (EU) in various fields, said the EU’s newly-accredited Ambassador to Vietnam Giorgio Aliberti. The workshop on Vietnam’s existing legal framework for commercial mediation and lessons learnt from international best practices was jointly organised by the International Finance Cooperation (IFC) of the World Bank Group and the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC). According to Nina Mocheva, a senior financial expert from the World Bank Group’s Finance, Competitiveness & Innovation Global Practice, more Vietnamese partners, including organisations, individuals and State management agencies made commitments to promote the settlement of commercial disputes based on legal regulations. In recent years, commercial medication has been gradually legalised in Vietnam, she said. In a countryside garment factory in the northern Bac Giang Province, Bien sits beside a bunch of red cloth bags. Around her dozens of other workers are making bags on sewing machines, but not Bien: Her job is to affix the company label on the bags, and she gets less than VND100,000 ($4.32) a day for it. She was given that job after failing to learn sewing despite eight days of training at the factory. "It's too difficult, I can't sew," she says. Bien is one of many Vietnamese trafficking victims rescued from China who returned lost, damaged, with little assurance their life would ever go back to the normal old days.
