Foreign investors grasp more control overn Vietnam’s aviation market
Experts believed that the government’s decision on increasing foreign holding will be a springboard for foreign investors to penetrate into the Vietnamese burgeoning market. The Vietnamese aviation market is expected to undergo significant changes next year as the government opens up more room for foreign investors in the industry amid share sale plans of domestic airlines. Under new regulations on the conditional business lines in the aviation sector, effective from January 1, 2020, Vietnam will raise the foreign ownership limit in domestic air carriers to 34% from the current 30%. Analysts from Ho Chi Minh City Securities Corporation forecast that Vietjet would be the first airline to reach the new foreign holding limit as the budget airline seeks a strategic partner by 2020. DGC is a state-owned enterprise established in 1963 and specialises in washing powder production. — Photo cafef.vn The Viet Nam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) has registered to auction all 11.45 million shares it holds in Duc Giang Chemical Group JSC (DGC), equivalent to 8.85 per cent of DGC’s capital. The shares will be offered at a starting price of VND49,100 (US$2.1), nearly double the current market price of VND27,000. Vinachem expects to collect VND560 billion from the sale. The transaction time is scheduled for December 31 at the Ha Noi Stock Exchange (HNX). DGC is a State-owned enterprise established in 1963 and specialises in washing powder production. The company was equitised in 2004. It filed for listing on the HNX in early November with a registered volume of more than 129 million shares.
