Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Foreign investors are edging back into emerging markets like Vietnam on hopes the recent significant recovery of the equity market will reassure those hoping to capitalise on stronger economic growth in the emerging world. Investment funds including Ashmore Group Plc and Coeli Asset Management SA have increased holdings in the 174 billion USD market since March, while foreign investors have returned to net buying so far this month, the first time since January. Swedish-based investment fund Coeli Asset has increased the proportion of Vietnamese stocks in its portfolio from 18.6 percent in early 2020 to about 25 percent, buying shares after the March selloff. Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam could resume pre-COVID-19 growth levels by next year although the pandemic threw a spanner in the works for the country’s thriving economic growth story, McKinsey & Company said in report published on Consultancy.asia. According to the firm, two factors have combined to cushion the blow of COVID-19 on Vietnam’s economy. For one, the country was successful in containing the virus. In fact, reports highlight that the last report of community transmission of Covid-19 in Vietnam was two months ago. Lockdown in Vietnam lasted only three weeks, and the country has been among the first to open for business, it said.
