A number of recent music videos on Vietnam’s Youtube Trending was sponsored by Tiki. They all feature the company’s logo and a Tiki staff delivering a package to customers. The number of views for the videos range from four million to 100 million as of the time of writing. Tiki, the second largest e-commerce site in Vietnam in terms of number of monthly web visits, said the videos are part of 100 music projects it plans to invest in. Many Vietnamese companies have started to use music videos to reach the country’s young and tech-savvy population. Footwear brand Biti’s is considered one of the most successful so far with this strategy. Its Lac Troi (Afloat), performed by pop sensation Son Tung M-TP in 2016, has got over 200 million views. The recent incident about YouTube terminating the Content Hosting Service Agreement (CHSA) with Vietnam’s media group Yeah1 will cause the company to lose its revenue share from its YouTube third party/partners’ channels, leaving the company to rely on its remaining businesses. Youtube: Yeah1 Network This segment is mostly based on advertising on YouTube platform, contributing 28% of revenue and 51% of net profit after tax (NPTA) for Yeah1 in 2018, including three revenue sources: Ads revenue received from YouTube by displaying ads on partners’ channels, on Yeah1’s owned and operated channels, and Direct sales revenue from Product placement, sponsored reviews, B2B partnership in content production. The European Commission, which began the debate two years ago, says the overhaul is necessary to protect Europe’s cultural heritage and create a level playing field between big online platforms and publishers, broadcasters and artists. Viet Nam News HCM CITY – As many as 100 cultural experts, producers and directors are taking part in a seminar in HCM City today to seek ways to attract young audiences to cải lương (reformed opera). The seminar was organised by the Voice of Việt Nam, the Việt Nam Theatre Artists Association and their partners as part of the country’s programme to mark the 100th anniversary of cải lương. Vietnamese pop singer My Tam has become the country’s first-ever artist to be listed on Billboard’s World Albums chart, after releasing her ninth studio album ‘Tam 9’. The World Albums chart by American entertainment brand Billboard provides rankings for the 15 best-selling world music albums of each week. Using combined physical and digital sales data compiled by Nielsen Music, My Tam’s album debuted on the chart in tenth place this week after Billboard updated their rankings, local media have reported.
