* Globally, as of 9:42am CET, 6 March 2021, there have been 115.478.709 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 2.568.720 deaths, reported to WHO. As of 6 March 2021, a total of 249.160.837 vaccine doses have been administered. * The Chinese mainland reported no new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases on Friday, the National Health Commission said Saturday. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland reached 89,962 by Friday, including 173 patients still receiving treatment, including one in severe condition. * Japan extended a state of emergency in the Tokyo area by two weeks to try to combat COVID-19, prompting a "heartfelt apology" by Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide. * Brazil on Friday registered more than 1,600 COVID-19 deaths for the fourth day in a row, reporting 1,800 new deaths and 75,495 new cases in the past 24 hours. Vietnam records six new COVID-19 infections on March 6 evening Vietnam logged six new COVID-19 cases on March 6 evening, all in northern Hai Duong province, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control reported. All the new patients had been previously quarantined and are being treated at a COVID-19 treatment hospital in Hai Duong province. By the evening of March 6, Vietnam had recorded a total of 2,507 COVID-19 patients, including 1,584 domestically-transmitted cases. Up to 891 domestic infections have been detected since the third wave of outbreaks hit the country on January 27. The Treatment Subcommittee said that 1,920 patients have recovered from the disease to date, while the number of deaths related to COVID-19 was still kept at 35. Among active patients undergoing treatment, 65 tested negative to the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, 57 twice and 137 thrice. Former Sagri general director, former HCMC vice chairman face charges The Saigon Times Former Sagri general director Le Tan Hung (L) and former HCMC vice chairman Tran Vinh Tuyen - PHOTO: MINISTRY OF PUBLIC SECURITY HCMC - Investigators at the Ministry of Public Security have proposed indicting Le Tan Hung, former general director of Saigon Agriculture Incorporated (Sagri), and 15 others, including former HCMC vice chairman Tran Vinh Tuyen, for allegedly causing losses of over VND672 billion for the State. The Investigative Police Agency on March 6 issued the findings of an investigation into violations at Sagri, the local media reported. Hung and Nguyen Thi Thuy, chief accountant of Sagri, were accused of appropriating assets and violating regulations on the use and management of State assets, causing losses and wastefulness.
