After the first batch containing 117,000 AstraZeneca vaccine shots arrived at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday, the Ministry of Health sent its press release upon Covid-19 vaccination plan and the use of vaccine . According to Minister Long, the country will receive 30 million doses supplied by COVAX Facility and the Ministry has negotiated to have all 30 million doses in 2021. He revealed Vietnam has ordered 30 million doses of vaccine from AstraZeneca and Pfizer respectively. The Southeast Asian country has also ordered Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine. The National Advisory Council in charge of granting drug circulation registration numbers approved the two new vaccines and submitted the proposal to the Ministry of Health for consideration at their meeting on February 25. If the proposal is green-lighted, Vietnam will have three licensed vaccines, namely AstraZeneca of the UK, Moderna of the US and Generium of Russia. Vietnam needs at least 150 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to vaccinate its people this year. However, Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long has said Vietnam is likely to get 90 million doses this year. Besides 60 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine that the ministry has reached agreements with AstraZeneca and COVAX, it is negotiating to import 30 million doses of Pfizer vaccine of the US. The Hanoitimes - The city will accelerate the establishment of an e-government model to create more convenience for the business community in realizing administrative procedures. Seven of the latest patients are in Hai Duong province, the epicentre of the nation’s most recent COVID-19 outbreak. Each of the individuals are F1 contacts that came into close contact with previously-confirmed COVID-19 patients. The one remaining imported case is a 25-year-old woman who is being isolated to receive treatment at the General Hospital based in Tay Ninh province after her test result came back positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Following the detection of seven new cases, the number of locally-transmitted cases in Hai Duong, the nation’s largest COVID-19 hotspot, reached 643 since the virus was first detected in the country late last month.
