AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine batch lands in HCMC

At around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, the flight carrying Covid-19 vaccine doses arrived at HCMC's Tan Son Nhat Airport. They're the first batch of Covid-19 vaccines produced by British-Swedish firm AstraZeneca in collaboration with Oxford University and imported by Vietnam Vaccine JSC (VNVC). After landing, the plane carrying the vaccine is guided to its berth. Employees at Tan Son Nhat Airport prepare to receive the vaccines while wearing protective suits. The first vaccine batch leaves the plane. A VNVC representative said the batch is part of an agreement last November with AstraZeneca. Truong Quoc Cuong, Deputy Health Minister, at Tan Son Nhat Airport on Wednesday said Vietnam and Thailand are the first two ASEAN countries to receive Covid-19 vaccines produced by AstraZeneca. Cases of COVID-19 in Vietnam rise to 194

Six more people have been confirmed to have contracted the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 on March 30 morning, and all of them are workers of the Truong Sinh Co. Ltd, which provides services for the Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital. A medical worker checks the body temperature of a person at the gate of Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi As a result, the number of COVID-19 cases in Vietnam had reached 194 as of 6am of March 30. Case 189 is a 46-year-old woman who stayed at the same house with two other Truong Sinh employees who have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. The five other infected women were born in 1971, 1984, 1997, 1999 and 1978. However, detailed information on those cases is not yet available. Vietnam works to ensure equal access to COVID-19 vaccines

The meeting took place after the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines, jointly studied and produced by AstraZeneca pharmaceutical company and the UK’s Oxford University, arrived in Vietnam on February 24. Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long expressed his thanked for efforts by the COVAX Facility programme to help Vietnam soon approach the vaccines. Vietnam wishes to get quality vaccines at suitable prices and matching the country’s storage capacity, he said, pledging that his ministry will promptly deal with procedure-related issues to facilitate the delivery of COVID-19 vaccines under the COVAX Facility programme. The ministry has assigned relevant agencies to put forth communication plans for the vaccination.
