On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE), VN-Index increased by 22.13 points to 1,066.98 points when 171 codes saw price hikes, 122 codes experienced declines and 45 others stayed unchanged. HNX Index on the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) inched up 0.51 point to 123.28 points with 95 codes rising, 72 others falling and the remaining 50 unchanged. No door for return of RON92 petrol After RON92 petrol was replaced by E5 bio-fuel for about three months, several enterprises said that the consumption of E5 was lower than that of RON92 and petitioned the authorities to resume the use of RON92. However, experts and businesses have asserted that the use RON92 petrol should not be resumed. VN-Index tumbles on dreary turnoverPhuong Thao HCMC – Wednesday’s strong recovery turned out to be short-lived as investors on February 8 scrambled to take profits, sending the VN-Index down 17.3 points, or 1.66%, at 1,023.25. Large caps were mixed with financials BID, HDB and BVH and steelmaker HPG gaining ground while others extended losses in the afternoon phase. GAS, a leading oil and gas stock, slumped 5.5% at VND104,000 a share while brewery firm SAB dropped 3.4% at VND225,000 a share. For the VN30 basket, pharmaceutical firm DHG added 2% at VND95,000 a share and sugar enterprise SBT, the third most actively traded stock with over 6.7 million shares changing hands, increased 2.3% at VND17,500 a share. In contrast, brokerage firm SSI slid 4.2% at VND55,200 per share with volume of two million shares. GAS pushes VN-Index downKim Ngan By Kim Ngan - The Saigon Times Daily HCMC – The VN-Index on September 3 slid 8.01 points, or 1.42%, to end at 554.3 points as the continued selloff hit heavyweight GAS on tumbling oil prices on world markets. Viet Capital Securities Company said ICE Brent futures have fallen by 7% to US$51 per barrel. At home, GAS shed 3.9% at VND45,700 per share and took away two points from the index of the HCMC bourse. Other petroleum tocks like PVD, PVT and PXS fell by 2.5-3.7% each, worsening the market downtrend. Negative investor sentiment delivered a blow to large caps such as VIC, VCB, MSN and HPG. Just three of the tickers in the VN30 basket gained. Securities stocks edged lower after a few sessions of gains. HCM and SSI lost nearly 5% each.
