M&A takes center stage in Vietnam’s foreign investment landscape
"These are sectors that will attract the most interest from foreign investors," Dr Oliver Massmann, general director of Hanoi-based law firm Duane Morris, told VnExpress International. He said leading enterprises with good financial capacity and high growth in these sectors would attract both foreign and domestic money. Vietnam university makes world top 400 in engineering and technology
They include the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) in the 301-400 group, the Hanoi branch of the Vietnam National University (401-500) and its Ho Chi Minh City branch (601-800) in engineering and technology. The annual rankings by THE, a British provider of higher education data, list Times Higher Education (THE), a 1,008 universities around the world. Vietnam's three universities ranked in Engineering and Technology by Times Higher Education (THE). In the computer science category, HUST and the Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City are ranked 601+ out of 759 universities. In September, the three schools were also the first in Vietnam to enter the general Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Eight Vietnam universities among Asia’s top 500
The country had seven universities in the list for 2018 and five in 2017. The annual listing is compiled by Britain's QS Quacquarelli Symonds, a global higher education company. On this year's list, Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City climbed up one place from last year to 143rd on the annual ranking. Its sister institution, Vietnam National University, Hanoi branch, fell 23 places to 147th this year while Ton Duc Thang University in HCMC made a big jump from the 291-300 group last year to 207th. The Hanoi University of Science and Technology maintained last year’s ranking in the 261-270 group, while Can Tho University in the Mekong Delta dropped from the 351-400 group to the 401-450 group. Hue University and Da Nang University in central Vietnam were placed in the 451-500 group. 54-yo deputy chief inspector takes shot at Vietnam’s national high school exam
It is not uncommon for public servants in Vietnam to lack a high school diploma due to previous educational standards in the country A 54-year-old deputy chief inspector in Gia Lai Province, located in Vietnam’s Central Highlands, was among the province’s oldest examinees sitting for this year’s national high school test. The provincial Department of Education and Training said on Tuesday that the locality had five test takers over 53 years old. Among them is Mai Xuan Khiem, 54, the current deputy chief inspector of the Gia Lai Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs. As is common amongst older local government officials in Vietnam, Khiem never graduated from high school. Both the education department and Tran Thi Hoai Thanh, director of the provincial labor department, confirmed the information.
