Residents of Kim Thuong Commune suspect that a local nurse practitioner, identified as Ha Tran Thao, who works at Tan Son General Hospital, had used the same needles when giving injections to several patients, which may have caused the HIV outbreak. Health authorities in the northern province of Phu Tho, a two hour drive northeast of Hanoi, are investigating an HIV outbreak which they suspect is connected to unlicensed examinations offered by a private clinic. Health officials last month took blood samples from 500 residents in the remote commune to carry out a quick HIV test after two people died of HIV/AIDS disease and four new HIV cases were spotted in the commune between February and June. The blood test results found 42 villagers infected with the HIV virus, but the source of infection is yet to be identified. Among the HIV-infected people in Kim Thuong Commune was an 18-month-old baby girl whose family cannot understand how it happened. The proposal was the key topic of discussion at an annual conference in Hanoi on April 18 on the production and distribution of these two main fruit products in Northern areas. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong speaks at the conference. Per the request, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), Ministry of Industry and Trade and Ministry of Foreign Affairs will arrange talks with their Chinese counterparts to promote Vietnamese fruits’ entrance into the country, via negotiation, plant quarantine agreements and removing technical barriers. 66 bridges to be built in northern province
The Directorate for Roads of Vietnam has approved a project to build 66 bridges in disadvantaged areas in the northern province of Phu Tho.The bridges will be built at the nine local mountainous districts of the province. Among those, 34 bridges will be built in Thanh Son District, while the others will be built in the districts of Tan Son, Ha Hoa, Cam Khe, Phu Ninh, Thanh Thuy, Doan Hung and Tam Nong. 66 bridges to be built in disadvantaged areas in the northern province of Phu Tho The bridges will cost USD5.5 million, using the loan from the World Bank.The construction of the first 19 bridges in Thanh Son is expected to be started next month.
