The drill was conducted as part of the visit and exchange between crew-members of the Ship CSB 8002 of Coast Guard Region 2 under the Vietnam Coast Guard and their Japanese peers. During the exercise, the Ship CSB 8002’s crew-members and personnel of the Hiryu Firefighting Vessel of the Japanese Coast Guard practiced towing a troubled ship ashore in an unfavorable weather condition. The joint activity was held to raise search and rescue capability of the Vietnamese and Japanese coast guard forces who both play a vital role in search and rescue missions in each country.
