(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Four days after it was launched the national public service portal had by 4:00pm of December 12 been accessed by 2.3 million people, receiving 581 requests for supply of low- and middle-voltage power, 693 for driving licence swapping and international driving licence issuing, and 51 on re-issuing of health insurance cards. According to Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung, data of the portal will continue to be enriched with the addition of more public services such as customs and tax declarations. The portal, which was launched on December 9, has provided eight services. Private firms confused about anti-corruption law
They had failed to apply a code of conduct to prevent corruption in their businesses, participants said at a forum held yesterday in Hanoi. “One of the reasons is the law is new,” one representative said. Corruption in the private sector was on the rise, posing a threat to society and the economy, he said. Speaking at the forum, deputy inspector general of the Government Inspectorate Tran Ngoc Liem said the expansion of the law’s scope to non-state sectors was necessary. Catherine Phuong, assistant resident representative of UNDP Vietnam , said the implementation of the law required efforts not only from the Government but also from companies. “Companies should play an active role in complying with the laws and regulations, and ensuring their business practices promote the values of fairness, inclusiveness, integrity, transparency and accountability,” she said. Chinese using proxies to acquire land: public security ministry
The Ministry of Public Security has reported to the National Assembly that Chinese nationals and entities are buying or renting land in premium locations along Vietnam’s coastline in the names of Vietnamese citizens. The number of Chinese nationals coming to Vietnam for business, travel and education has increased greatly, leading to high demand for houses. They are marrying locals and bearing children without informing local authorities, the ministry's report said. About 2.1 million Chinese tourists came to Vietnam in the first five months of the year, the biggest source of visitors, accounting for nearly 30 percent of the country's total arrivals, according to the General Statistics Office.
