NA leader receives WB-IMF Parliamentary Network delegation

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan addresses the meeting (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan hosted a reception in Hanoi on March 7 for a delegation from the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (the Parliamentary Network) led by its Vice President Soukri Cherif. Showing her delight at the effective cooperation between Vietnam and the WB, the top legislator said that Vietnam needs the support of the international community, including the bank, to fulfill its goals amidst many difficulties and challenges. She affirmed that the NA of Vietnam will closely supervise the management and use of WB assistance, ensuring it is used effectively to bring added value to the local socio-economic development. The Vietnamese delegation on the trip included Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu, along with some members of the NA Standing Committee and officials of several ministries, sectors and provinces. Bamboo Airways to open 40 new routes

FLC Group introduces its logo recognition for Bamboo Airways (Photo: FLC)   Hanoi (VNA) - FLC Group plans to open 40 local and international routes after its carrier, Bamboo Airways, becomes operational, said Dang Tat Thang, General Director of the airline. He made the announcement at the inauguration ceremony of the brand in Hanoi last week. He said the airline was planning its routes while waiting for approval of its licence. FLC plans to serve 24 domestic and 16 international routes. In Vietnam, the airline will connect tourism complexes, such as Thanh Hoa-Quy Nhon, Thanh Hoa-Phu Quoc, Thanh Hoa-Nha Trang and Hai Phong-Quy Nhon. In the international market, Bamboo Airways will cover Japan, the Republic of Korea, China, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Philippines. It also plans to open flights to the US and Europe in the long term. European stocks surge on Johnson election triumph, US trade deal

London stocks and the British pound jumped Friday after an election triumph for Conservative Prime Minister Boris Johnson that analysts said will bring clarity to Brexit proceedings and unlock stronger economic growth. Other European stock markets -- although lagging buoyant London, which rose over two percent at one point -- also powered ahead, supported by confirmation of a partial trade deal between the United States and China. However, Wall Street's rally petered out, with American equities finishing little changed on the day both Beijing and Washington finally said they were on the same page. Stocks had rallied Thursday in anticipation of the trade deal with China, but then declined when the pact was announced. Air pollution in the city has been worsening – PHOTO: VNA HCMC - Air pollution in Hanoi has been worsening, with the air quality index recorded on some days reaching the brown level, which means the air quality is hazardous and poses a serious health risk. On December 13, the monitoring system of the municipal Environmental Protection Agency recorded that 10 of 11 sites were encountering serious air pollution. It later reached the purple level, with the air quality index (AQI) exceeding 200.
