Hanoi (VNA) - Trans-provincial passenger trains will be suspended from March 30 until April 15 to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, according to the Vietnam Railway Authority. The Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City train route will continue to run with two trips per day at most. In cases of special carriage needs, the Vietnam Railways will report to the Vietnam Railway Authority for further consideration. Meanwhile, all coaches running on contracts and tourist buses with more than nine seats will not also be allowed to depart from or arrive in Hanoi and HCM City from March 30 until April 15. The move aims to prevent the transmission of the virus that causes the acute respiratory disease (COVID-19) from and to the country’s two largest cities. Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s stock market recorded a memorable trading session on May 18 when total transaction value surpassed 35 trillion VND (1.54 billion USD) on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE). The VN-Index grew by 2.69 points to 1,033.33 points before dropping to 1,013 points. Later, the appearance of demand helped this benchmark index rebound and reach 1,040.54 points, up 9.9 points, at the end of the trading day. Among the large-cap stocks, GAS and VCB lost 1,000 VND and 300 VND per share, respectively. SAB and VNM witnessed respective increases of 10,000 VND and 6,100 VND, while BVH, CTG and MSN rose between 250 VNF and 3,100 VND per share. Notably, VHM of Vinhomes posted a historic trading session when nearly 268 million shares worth over 30.7 trillion VND (about 1.35 billion USD) were traded.
