In a recent interview with the Vietnam News Agency on the occasion of the ongoing 13th National Party Congress, Nga said Vietnam has seen considerable improvement in gender equality goals over the last five years, standing in the sixth place globally in the proportion of women in business. It was also the only Asian country to be among the top 10 with the highest rate of women-led enterprises. She said the theme “Safety for women and children”, selected and launched by the VWU Central Committee in 2019, will continue into the future to uphold the role of women and VWU chapters at all levels. Deeper integration into global value chain crucial: Minister
Hanoi (VNA) - Deeper integration into the global value chain while developing an increasingly independent and self-controlled economy are both a requirement and a solution to help Vietnam overcome the challenges to realise its goal of rapid and sustainable development, according to Party Central Committee member and Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh. Anh made the statement in his presentation at discussions on January 28 during the on-going 13th National Party Congress. ADB funds over 20 mln USD for women-led SMEs
Hanoi (VNA) – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has reported that it received 20.2 million USD from the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) in support of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) led by women. Accordingly, nearly 5,000 SMEs will be given access to critical financing and training courses in both Vietnam and the Pacific during five years. It is the second time the ADB has received the second non-refundable aid from We-Fi to support the Women Accelerating Vibrant Enterprises in Southeast Asia and the Pacific (WAVES) programme. Women-led businesses comprise roughly 60 percent of all micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in Asia and the Pacific.
