The International Labour Organisation (ILO) made the alarming proclamation in the context of the rise of Industry 4.0 and Vietnam’s lack of human resource quality. Lao dong (Labour) newspaper noted the ILO rankings in which the quality of Vietnamese workforce was given 3.79 out of 10 points, ranking 11th among the 12 listed Asian countries, while the workforce’s competitiveness received only 4.3 points. Additionally, the rate of trained labourers was only slightly more than 20 percent in 2015. A large proportion of the country’s workers also lack soft skills like foreign languages, IT and teamwork skills. Vietnam Sun Corporation (Vinasun) has reported the third consecutive quarter of loss in its passenger transport business due to competition from ride-hailing services. Vinasun (code: VNS) has just announced its consolidated financial statements for the second quarter, with its business results on a downward trend. Sales of Vinasun hit VND530 billion ($23.35 million), down 35 per cent on-year. Gross profit reduced by 16 per cent to VND97.5 billion ($4.3 million), which was not enough to compensate for expenses. Vinasun therefore suffered a loss of VND5 billion ($0.22 million) in the second quarter of 2018 - the third consecutive quarter for the company to report loss in its passenger transport business. However, Vinasun recorded VND22 billion ($0.97 million) from other business segments such as liquidating old cars. The ASEAN+3 comprises the ten member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (RoK). ASEAN groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The report, titled “ASEAN+3 Regional Economic Outlook (AREO) 2018,” predicts a robust growth this year in China and Japan, the region's two largest economies. Hanoi’s egg coffee has received numerous compliment for international media. Per a recent piece in The Guardian about the coffee, “It doesn’t taste of egg – more like vanilla – and while I can taste the coffee at the bottom of the cup, the egg part is surprisingly light-tasting and not at all sickly, though certainly sweet. UNESCO has given feedback about Vietnam’s ca tru file. Director of the Music Institute, Le Toan, talked about the compilation of the ca tru file and how to restore this art. We had to stop compiling the ca tru file for a long time in 2006 because UNESCO changed the form of recognition of intangible hertigages. Did we have to amend the file much to fit new criteria? We had been compiling the file for over one year when UNESCO changed its criteria for choosing heritages. We had to add more information to the file, but the old data was not redundant. Megastar, the country's leading film distributor, has announced a dragon-painting contest for people aged between six and 29 with the prize being invitations to the premiere of the animated 3D Hollywood film How to train your dragon probably at the end of April. It is open to contestants in Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, and HCM City and Dong Nai Province who have to hand-paint a dragon using any material but without using computers. PV Oil has yet to decide how to sell sharesLan Nhi HANOI – PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PV Oil) has yet to pick a method to sell shares to strategic partners. PV Oil unveiled a plan on Tuesday to launch its long-awaited initial public offering (IPO) on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange (HOSE) on January 25. The firm will sell more than 206 million shares, accounting for 20% of its chartered capital. Each share is expected to cost VND13,400 (US$0.58). Therefore, it intends to hold two road shows, with one in HCMC on January 11 and the other in Hanoi City on January 12, just ahead of the IPO. It will then sell 44.72% of its shares to strategic partners, with foreign investors allowed to own up to 49% of the company. PV Oil has not chosen a put-through or normal method for the share sale.
