According to the Government Inspectorate, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has yet to pay due attention to the legitimate rights and interests of people employed abroad and come up with suitable measures to help reduce worker costs. "For a long period of time, the ministry has not been able to manage or control official and brokerage fees of businesses running the service, which had caused workers (who in fact are all poor) to pay a large amount of money even when the policy of receiving markets (Japan and Taiwan) does not require them to pay." The conclusion of the inspectorate was announced at a Thursday meeting by its deputy head Tran Ngoc Liem. HCM City: early start proposed for over VND4.8 trillion traffic project Traffic congestion on Cong Hoa road The Ho Chi Minh City management board for traffic works construction and investment has urged early completion of paperwork for construction on a road linking Tran Quoc Hoan and Cong Hoa roads to begin in December. Costing more than 4.84 trillion VND (211.2 million USD), the project is slated to complete in July 2023, in conjunction with the completion of the Tan Son Nhat international airport’s Terminal 3 The project, approved in December 2019, includes the building of a six-lane 4km road, an intersection tunnel, and a 1,200m overpass in front of the Terminal 3. Apart from the project, the city also conducting procedures to implement the expansion of Hoang Hoa Tham road and upgrading of Cong Hoa road around the Tan Son Nhat airport. BSR earns 54 trillion VND in revenue in six months
A corner of the Dung Quat Oil Refinery (Photo: VNA) Quang Ngai (VNA) – The Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical One Member Co Ltd (BSR), a subsidiary of PetroVietnam, pocketed nearly 54 trillion VND (2.37 billion USD) in revenue in the first six months of the year, accounting for 69 percent of the yearly plan. At its shareholders’ meeting held in the central province of Quang Ngai on June 21, the company said that its net profit reached 2.7 trillion VND (118.8 million USD), equivalent to 77.6 percent of the target set for the whole year. The company’s total output stood at 3.53 million tonnes while its sale volume was estimated at 3.6 million tonnes, completing 57 percent of the yearly plan. Residents and tourists alike have shared their disappointment over the removal of large portions of the Franciscaines Misionnaires de Marie – an abandoned monastery in the Central Highlands city of Da Lat – during the site’s renovation. Spanning more than seven hectares, the chapel and residential quarters of Franciscaines Misionnaires de Marie sit between Tran Quang Dieu and Hung Vuong Streets in Da Lat, which is the capital of Lam Dong Province. For years, the iconic chapel has been an inspiration for Vietnamese artists and photographers, being reimagined in countless works of art.
