Vietnam Airlines to resume flights to Van Don Airport on March 3
Vietnam Airlines announced on February 26 that it will resume flights between Ho Chi Minh City and the northern province of Quang Ninh’s Van Don Airport, which had been hit by COVID-19, on March 3 as the province has brought the pandemic under control and the airport is now safe to cater to passengers. Illustrative photo The national flag carrier will therefore become the first to restart flights to the Van Don airport since the local COVID-19 outbreak began. From March 3 to 17, one weekly flight will ply the route between the two destinations, on Wednesdays. Flight numbers will be increased to three a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, from March 18 until the end of the year. Flights will take off at 1pm from HCM City and 3.45pm from Van Don. Vietnam aviation authority orders safety ramp-up of ground vehicle operations at airports
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) on Thursday issued an order requesting airport administrators across the country to beef up safety control of their ground vehicle operations after a number of accidents caused by the ground vehicles had happened at their flight zones. The most recent accident occurred at 8:45 am on February 18 when an airport tractor managed by Pacific Airlines went out of control and collided with a sign board at the flight zone inside Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. Earlier, a Vietjet Air-operated Airbus A321 aircraft, which was being towed towards its parking lot, crashed a stair truck of the Saigon Ground Services (SAGS) at Tan Son Nhat at 8:40 pm on February 12. Hanoi reports case of COVID-19 relapse A patient has tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 again after being given the all-clear, the Hanoi Centre of Disease Control (CDC Hanoi) said on February 25. The 48-year-old patient, who resides in Dich Vong ward in Cau Giay district, has been taken to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases for further quarantine and treatment. The case does not pose any risk of community transmission, Deputy Director of CDC Hanoi Khong Minh Tuan said. Hanoi had reported 36 COVID-19 cases between January 27 and 12pm on February 25, according to the municipal Department of Health.
