Hanoi launches city decoration and lighting campaign
A campaign seeking ideas for Hanoi's street decoration and lighting for this year has been launched by the municipal Department of Culture and Sports. Vietnamese train ride listed among world’s top 10 train journeys
The list was made by British journalist and travel writer Monisha Rajesh based on her book ‘Around the World in 80 Trains: A 45,000-Mile Adventure’. According to the author, starting in Hanoi, the Reunification Express runs the length of the country right down to Ho Chi Minh City in the south, of which the finest segment is the first half of the journey to Da Nang. (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The launching ceremony of a tree-planting festival on the Lunar New Year was held in Hanoi on February 21 as part of this year’s efforts in response to the Government’s programme on planting 1 billion trees to 2025. Addressing the launching event, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh said tree planting has remained as the city’s annual programme. Hanoi’s young men get Covid tests before joining the army
On February 23, Hanoi began conducting Covid-19 testing for 4,500 young men before they join the army. This year Hanoi is assigned to recruit 3,500 young citizens to perform military service and more than 1,000 citizens to perform the people's police service. Districts and towns in the city have basically completed the preparations for the rookie handover ceremony, which is scheduled on February 27. Young men were tested for nCoV on February 23. The test samples will be sent to the Hanoi Center for Disease Control and the results will be available on February 25, said Colonel Nguyen Viet Thang, Head of the Military Medical Service of the Capital High Command. The Capital High Command said that the 2021 rookie handover ceremony of Hanoi will take place within only 20 minutes on February 27, due to the ongoing Covid-19 epidemic.
