The 2009 German comedy film “Soul Kitchen”, directed by award-winning film director, screenwriter and producer Fatih Akın, will be screened on November 15, starting at 7 p.m. The film tells stories and events happening around a chaotically run eatery called Soul Kitchen in Hamburg. “Soul Kitchen” was based on the true story about a Greek tavern named Taverna, where Akın was a regular customer. Goethe Institute Hanoi launches Karl Marx contest
Karl Marx was born in 1818 in Trier, which then belonged to Prussia. The Goethe Institute Hanoi will mark this anniversary by exploring the life, work, and most importantly, the impact of this multi-faceted thinker. The contest will include short essays or fictional stories of about 500 words in length. Art works such as plays, poems, comic strips and picture stories or cartoons and artistic or documentary short films of no more than 90 seconds in length are also accepted. An exhibition featuring the life of Karl Marx “We want to call on all people, not only scientists and researchers, but also others from fields such as art to join the contest,” said Goethe Institute’s director Wilfried Eckstein at a press conference held on May 10. Their performances were based on the techniques of mime, which were much more like theatrical work than dance. The mime movement of their dance helped audiences “see” the invisible, and attracting audiences by all their own styles. The group performed in Vietnam for the first time in 2016. In September 2017, Onodera created “WITHOUT SIGNAL!” after taking part in a few dance workshops with some Vietnamese artists.
