The Hanoitimes - Vietnam is currently Foxconn’s largest production hub in Southeast Asia. Taiwan-based Foxconn or Hon Hai Precision Industry, known as a major manufacturing partner of Apple, has announced its plan to recruit 1,000 workers for assembling electronic parts. Under the announcement, workers are required to work at Dinh Tram, Quang Chau, and Van Trung industrial parks in Bac Giang province, and Que Vo industrial park in Bac Ninh province, with an income of VND8-10 million (US$348-435) per month. The Hanoitimes - Foxconn plans to roll out full-scale production in Vietnam and receive the benefits of the recently-signed RCEP. Foxconn, formally known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, plans to expand production in Vietnam with an investment of around US$270 million, Nikkei reported. Foxconn will soon establish a new local company in Vietnam. The Taiwan-based company, which just began the production of liquid crystal displays in Vietnam last week, aims to take advantage of the new Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement, and hopes to bolster its production capacity in the country. The 15-member RCEP was signed on November 15 in a bid to reduce tariffs and allow seamless trade in Asia. Foxconn recruits thousands of workers in Bac Ninh, Bac Giang
All workers who were successful in the recruitment process are expected to begin work at either the Dinh Tram Industrial Park, Quang Chau Industrial Park, or Van Trung Industrial Park in the northern province of Bac Giang, or alternatively Que Vo Industrial Park in the northern province of Bac Ninh. Employees will receive a total salary of VND8 million per month, in addition to fees to cover the cost of meals and accommodation. Along with this, Foxconn has revealed that employees will be covered by insurance from the start, including their month of probation. Along with recruiting unskilled workers, Foxconn has also recruited other positions such as SQE engineers, sanitation workers, cafeteria, and management staff. The Fukang Technology Factory project by Foxconn Singapore PTE Ltd in Quang Chau Industrial Park aims to both manufacture and outsource tablets and laptops. The production line is set to be built with a design capacity of reaching roughly eight million products annually. Zhuo Xianhong, general director of Foxconn Group in Vietnam, said as of December, 2020, the firm’s total investment capital in the nation hit US$1.5 billion, including US$900 million in Bac Giang alone, thereby creating jobs for over local 35,000 workers.
