Tree-planting in Phu Yen lays roots for nationwide goal

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the tree-planting launch ceremony in Phu Yen Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc kicked off the spring launch ceremony of the tree-planting festival in Tuy Hoa city of Phu Yen on February 20. The festival is in line with the prime minister’s plan for Vietnam to plant one billion trees in total by 2025. “The government and I do believe that Phu Yen will be one of the localities taking the lead in implementing the plan,” the prime minister said. Phu Yen has set a target that over the next five years, 15 million trees will be planted, including 12 million in different areas and three million as protection forests which can mitigate or prevent the impact of natural hazards. On average, each year will see three million trees planted. Another million-dollar-loss-making project resurfaced

The Hanoitimes - The potash salt mine project in Laos became the 5th loss-making project of Vinachem and the 13th projects of Ministry of Industry & Trade sustaining loss of hundreds of millions of dollars. “Another loss-making project has resurfaced in the name of potash salt mine project in Laos,” said the Vice Minister of Industry & Trade Do Thang Hai at the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem)’s year-end meeting on January 19 to prepare its targets for 2018. Vinachem once again is in the focus with another loss-making project resurfaced. Huge bomb safely deactivated in Quang Binh province

Earlier, at 11:30 on March 1, workers of the Duy Thinh Construction Consultant Limited Company found a bomb at a depth of nearly 2m while working on a road in Hoan Lao town. Upon receiving the information, the Quang Binh provincial Military Command directed the Bo Trach district Military Command, together with public security forces, to send troops to the surrounding the area and evacuate local residents to safe places. The MK82 bomb, with a weight of 227kg, length of 1.54m and a diameter of 274mm remained intact. The bomb is believed to be dropped by the US during the Vietnam war.
