She believes a solid legal framework is necessary to make sure there is plenty of water for future generations. “We need a scheme for the Water Supply Law, and submit it to the Government and the National Assembly,” Khanh said. There are more than 200 water supply enterprises in Vietnam, mainly operating as joint stock companies. The national programme to ensure water supply and prevent water loss in the 2018-25 period has been implemented to promote investment and improve modern and energy-saving water treatment technology. Hanoi authorities say the application of Nano-Bioreactor technology to treat To Lich River pollution hasn't brought satisfactory results, but the Japanese side has rejected the conclusion. The Hanoi City Delegation of National Assembly Deputies held a meeting with voters in Thanh Xuan district several days ago in which city leaders answered questions about the fate of To Lich, the 100-year old river which is dying because of pollution. Vietnamese arrested for illegal fishing in Malaysia to stand trial Friday
Vietnamese Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said on Thursday that the Vietnamese embassy will closely work with Vietnamese and Malaysian agencies to protect their legitimate rights and interests. Besides the fishermen from Kien Giang Province, Malaysian authorities are holding 20 other Vietnamese fishing boats and their crew for tresspassing its waters. They were detained in early May. Vietnam has asked Malaysia to provide the list of the fishermen so that it can take due steps to assist them, Hang said. The Vietnamese embassy will cooperate with the authorities in Vietnam to complete the procedures to bring the fishermen back home when they are deported, she said. Despite its 3,260 km (2,025 miles) coastline, Vietnam is running out of near-shore seafood resources, and some fishermen who have sailed into other countries’ waters also said they face threats from Chinese trawlers that are illegally anchored in Vietnamese waters.
