VND20 billion offered for home-grown COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial study

IVAC Director Dr. Duong Huu Thai said that COVIVAC is a liquid vaccine with or without adjuvants, without preservatives, and the production technology using the Newcastle disease virus (NDV) vaccine vector with the S gene of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine attached to produce vaccines in chicken eggs containing embryos. Vietnam to commence human trials on second home-grown COVID-19 vaccine in early March

IVAC Director Dr. Duong Huu Thai shared that the vaccine phase 1 and phase 2 clinical research protocols have been approved by the National Ethical Council in Biomedical Research and the Ethical Councils at grassroots level. IVAC is scheduled to kickstart the clinical trials at National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE) and Hanoi Medical University in early March and will conclude by this October. Portugal spends EUR915.9 mln on fighting against pandemic

Official data showed that the expenditure on the country's health system increased by 11.3 percent in January 2021 compared to the same period last year, with most of it being paid for professionals and medical equipment. The Ministry of Health has reported having contracted 981 hospital beds by the end of January this year, with 745 beds from the private and social sectors and 236 from the Armed Forces. The number of ventilators for the treatment of COVID-19 patients has almost doubled, now totaling 2,216 pieces of equipment available through the health system. Beds in intensive care units more than tripled, rising from 431 beds in January 2020 to 1,411 on Feb. 10 this year. According to the latest data from the Directorate-General for Health, Portugal currently has 861,922 people vaccinated against the coronavirus: 596,812 with the first dose and 265,110 with the second dose. The biennial conference was originally set to be held in Kazakhstan last year but was delayed due to the pandemic. * More COVID-19 cases and deaths were reported in Asia-Pacific on Monday, as India recorded 15,510 new infections, taking the total to 11,112,241. According to the official data, the death toll in India mounted to 157,157 with 106 more deaths. * The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported 2,037 new cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 578,381. On the truth about learning Vietnamese in Vietnam

It’s time to fess up: after several years of living in Vietnam, my Vietnamese language skills remain a disaster. It’s a veritable train wreck, there’s no getting around it. I have excuses which I replay in my mind in an effort to dull the pain of defeat, most of which are pretty lame. Vietnamese is a tough language for most foreigners to grasp, with endless pronunciation quirks representing the biggest obstacle between us and success. Fair enough, we all know that. Every Tom, Dick, and Harry wants to practice their English with us, so we, as guests, should indulge them, even at the expense of our own progress. That approach conveniently twists a feeble excuse for tires spinning in mud into a benevolent gesture, so that we feel we are making a contribution to the community when the truth is it’s laziness on the part of us foreigners.
