Weak demand fails to spur market

Weak buying demand on Wednesday and the recovery of global stock markets on Tuesday failed to help domestic indices. The VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange edged down 0.86 per cent to end trading at 919.24 points. It fell 0.69 per cent to end at 927.25 points on Tuesday. On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index fell 0.25 per cent to 104.16 points. The index fell 0.56 per cent to 104.42 points on Tuesday. More than 231.5 million shares worth a combined VND5.2 trillion (US$222 million) were traded on the two markets. Meanwhile, market breadth was negative. Declining stocks outnumbered gainers by 264 to 166, while 324 ended flat. Across the 20 sectors on the stock market, 12 industries saw share prices drop, including energy firms, property developers, brokerages, construction material and food and beverage producers. The VN30 Index, which tracks the overall performance of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation, was down 0.89 per cent at 882.79 points. Market outlook positive for last week of September

The benchmark VN-Index on the HCM Stock Exchange ended Friday at 1,002.97 points, totalling a weekly growth rate of 1.17 per cent after having risen for four of the five trading days last week.– Photo dantri.com.vn Outstanding performance of financial-banking and petroleum stocks that helped Viet Nam’s benchmark VN-Index re-take the 1,000-point level is expected to continue in the last week of September despite some caution about the US central bank’s Fed meeting on raising interest rates. Finance, petroleum stocks extend market’s rally

Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese shares gained steadily on Thursday, driven by positive investor confidence that lifted financial-banking and energy stocks. The benchmark VN-Index on the HCM Stock Exchange rose 0.92 per cent to close at 1,004.74 points. The southern market index has increased by a total of 1.73 per cent in the last three sessions. The HNX Index on the Hà Nội Stock Exchange was up 0.75 per cent to end at 115.06 points. The northern market index has risen 2.04 per cent in the past three days. Nearly 262 million shares were traded on the two local exchanges, worth VNĐ5.8 trillion (US$257.3 million). Market conditions were positive with 265 stocks gaining, 167 declining and 126 ending flat. The financial-banking and energy sectors remained the driving factors for the market’s rally on Thursday. Stocks rise, despite wide uncertainty

Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI – Vietnamese shares gained steadily on Monday, driven by energy, retail agriculture stocks despite underperformance of the financial sector amid investors’ uncertainty. The benchmark VN Index on the HCM Stock Exchange inched up 0.08 per cent to close at 969.62 points. It gained total 0.04 per cent last week. The HNX Index on the Hà Nội Stock Exchange ended at 108.06 points, a slight increase from last week’s ending of 108.02 points. The northern market index increased by total 2.66 per cent last week. More than 212 million shares were traded on the two trading bourses, worth VNĐ4.41 trillion (US$196 million). The major driving factors for the stock market yesterday were energy and agriculture stocks, which benefited from an extensive growth of oil prices and positive business news. Nawaplastic still hungry for Binh Minh Plastic shares Owning a dominant stake in Binh Minh Plastic (BMP) did not quench Nawaplastic Industry Co., Ltd. (Nawaplastic)’s thirst for BMP shares. Most recently, Nawaplastic registered to buy an additional 1.17 million BMP shares to increase its holding to 44.525 million shares, equalling 54.39 per cent of the charter capital. The transaction is expected to occur between June18 and July16. The registered share volume is the remaining part of the 2.86 million shares that Nawaplastic failed to buy during previous transactions. Notably, Nawaplastic registered to buy 2.86 million BMP shares during transactions on May 14-June 12, however, the Thai investor ended up buying 1.69 million of the registered shares as BMP did not match Nawaplastic’s target price.
