A plane of Vietnam Airlines (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam Airlines has delayed flights between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) on October 2 evening due to impact of Storm Mitag in the Northeast Asian region. The national flag carrier announced that Flights VN422 and VN426 from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to the RoK’s Busan city, along with Flights VN423 and VN427 from Busan to HCM City, will take off on October 3 morning, instead of October 2 evening as initially planned. Flights VN408, VN416, VN440, VN430 and VN441 from HCM City, Da Nang city and Cam Ranh city to Incheon city of the RoK will also be delayed for several hours. Passengers on the rescheduled flights will receive support from the carrier in line with regulations. The national carrier is allowed to operate flights between Viet Nam’s Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi and the U.S. cities of Los Angeles, San Francisco (California); New York (New York), Seattle (Washington) and Dallas - Fort Worth (Texas). The transit flights will include stops in Taipei (Taiwan – China), Osaka and Nagoya (Japan). Viet Nam Airlines is also allowed to operate flights to the Canadian cities of Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto via points in the U.S. In addition, Viet Nam Airlines is also licensed to operate routes from destinations outside Viet Nam, via Viet Nam or other transit points to 25 destinations in the U.S. under codeshare arrangements. Starting December 18, Air Seoul plans to offer seven flights a week to Nha Trang as it strives to strengthen services on routes to Southeast Asia to offset declining demand on Japanese routes, the company said in a statement. Korean Air has been donating bicycles to students in Vietnam's rural areas since 2018 as part of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. Through these donations, Korean Air supports children to overcome their challenging circumstances in pursuit of their dreams. Employees from Korean Air's Danang office visited Duy Thu elementary school, one of the four schools that received the supplies. On the same day (September 7), Korean Air donated 40 bicycles, 60 backpacks, and 40 footballs to underprivileged schools recommended by the Quang Nam Education Office. These schools are located in mountainous areas, so students do not have access to public transportation, meaning they have to walk five to seven kilometres every morning to school. The airline also donated footballs to encourage pupils to partake in physical activity.
