Tra fish exports to Russia slump Export revenue of tra fish to the Russian market in the first 10 months of this year fell 31 percent compared to last year to 12.5 million USD, reported the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP). According to the association, the sharp drop followed last year’s declining trend, and was likely to continue for the rest of 2019. VASEP said that in the last two years, Russia’s tra fish consumption has been modest, with unstable import prices. Meanwhile, the European country’s imports of frozen tra fish fillets have increased slightly by 3 percent, but that of frozen whole fish have fallen 29 percent./. Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh (R) receives Deputy Secretary General of  OECD Jeffrey Schlagenhauf (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh hosted a reception for Deputy Secretary General of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Jeffrey Schlagenhauf in Hanoi on December 6. Binh welcomed the selection of Vietnam as the host of the 10th Regional Conference on Preventing and Combating Corruption in Infrastructure Projects in Asia Pacific by the OECD in coordination with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Anti-Corruption Initiative for Asia Pacific.   He thanked the OECD for helping Vietnam review development polices, including the investment policies in 2017 and 2018. Is it time to curb the number of tourists?

The overcrowding at some tourism sites in recent years has raised a debate about whether Vietnam’s tourism has reached its critical point. Twelve years ago, Anh Lan, director of a travel firm in HCMC, began sending international tourists to Nha Trang City. Later, realizing that tourists like the sea city, she decided to focus on bringing tourists there. HCMC reported that it has received 4.25 million foreign travelers in the first half of 2019 and a much higher number of domestic travelers. Hanoi received 14.4 million travelers, Quang Binh 8.5 million, Khanh Hoa 3.4 million, Ba Ria – Vung Tau 8.46 million and Kien Giang 4.29 million. In a special report on tourism development in Vietnam, the World Bank commented that in the last decade, Vietnam witnessed a boom in the number of domestic and foreign travelers.
