Bern (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh took part in a traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) celebration held by the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland on January 19. Binh highlighted Vietnam’s impressive economic growth in 2019, adding that this was the second consecutive year that the country had recorded growth of over 7 percent, higher than the average level of the region and the globe. Vietnam was also elected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) with a record number of votes, he said. The second summit between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the US took place in Hanoi in February 2019, putting Vietnam in the spotlight of international media, he added. Hanoi (VNA) – President Tran Dai Quang and his spouse will pay a State visit to Bangladesh from March 4-6 at the invitation of his counterpart Mohammad Abdul Hamid to mark the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties (February 11). The visit affirms Vietnam’s consistent external policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification of international ties, including attaching importance to strengthening relations with Bangladesh.
